Starring: Ilze Coetzee, Marnus Greyling
The Rieger organ was donated by Nicky and Strilli Oppenheimer and was installed in 2012. The 33 registers are subdivided into 10 stops in the Great, 15 in the Swell and 8 stops in the pedal. The Musical Director of St, George's Zürich Marnus Greyling, a brilliant young Cambridge music graduate, performs a selection of works, to show this instrument off to the best of its ability.
Marnus is joined by Ilze Coetzee for the main work on the programme, namely the Exsultate Jubilate (Mozart), which ends with the famous Allelujah aria. As coloratura of note, Ilze has sung the leading operatic roles for Brooklyn Theatre over the past 10 years. These include, among others, the Queen of the Night, Lucia di Lammermoor, Norma, Gilda in Rigoletto , Rosalinde & Adele in Fledermaus.
Brooklyn Theatre TV thanks St George's Zürich for the use of the venue and instrument for this special concert.
